Nadaum Experiment - Overview @ Adelaide Planetarium Oct 24th

Nadaum Experiment - WAS BOOKED OUT !

We had a great night with two sessions 7pm and 8:30pm - I was performing a couple of sonic-musical pieces during the night.

LOCATION : Adelaide Planetarium http://www.unisa.edu.au/planetarium/ [special thanks to Martin Lewicki].

Visuals using the Zeiss Star Projector were controlled by Bradley Pitt:

Zeiss star projector

The Zeiss star projector was built in Jena, East Germany probably around 1960, unfortunately records have not been kept so no firm date is available. It is hoped that an all-sky projection system can be installed in the near future. The Zeiss can show the relative position of about 5,000 stars. Where as the dome at the Adelaide Planetarium is a plasterboard construction, most modern planetariums have a perforated aluminium dome which enables operators to hide projectors and sound systems behind the dome.

First was sounds of Crystal Bowls by Allen Stevens - are made of the highest quality (99.992% pure!) quartz crystal, making them incredibly resonant. The bowls that were brought were > tones E B C F# G making 5 bowls in total. These sounds reflected the Auroral Lights of the north and south pole with pure harmonics of clear sonics that wash through space like rustling silk. Check these sounds http://www-pw.physics.uiowa.edu/mcgreevy/

Second Playback piece from our CD Nadaum - Sonic DNA Cosmic DNA 8mins http://www.sacredresonance.com.au/musicvideo.html

Third - Playback with Samples created in 'Kontakt' and with Allen Playing Live Crystal Bowls about 12mins working with samples, harmonics based on DNA, Great Pyramid, Sounds from Pulsars.

Fourth Part 1: - Was my new electronic piece just made from space sounds check some here http://www-pw.physics.uiowa.edu/space-audio/ this was composed in 'Live' > I also with Bradley Pitt created a full dome work for the Adelaide Planetarium from NASA images, Research Associate Professor - Paul Bourke's work and some of Simon Carroll's Aurora footage from New Zealand http://www.simoncarroll.com/ (thanks lots).

Fourth Part 2: I also used a muon detector as part of the performance You can find out more about the particular version of the muon detector that I have been experimenting with here: http://hardhack.org.au/geiger_muller_detector and here http://little-scale.blogspot.com/2009/09/homemade-muon-detector-and-arduino.html

The idea was to have acutal muons detected as part of the "REAL TIME EXPERIMENT" way cool I thought. Thanks to Robert Hart [see 1st link above]. Seb explains this here also. We worked together and the first 10mins was my compositions with full dome visuals then Seb came in for about 7-8mins with 'Live' and Muon detector + full dome visuals still playing from my section.

Finished off with Crystal Bowls - Allen and myself playing them.

Everyone loved it!!! Got so many positive comments :) and people thought it was truly comsic!

Here is a post to youtube of the Fourth Part 1 and Part 2: Note is all space sounds are used in my section, Seb has some drum sounds mapped in live to give it that cosmic beat of the universe.

We are doing this all again in Feb 2010 @ Adelaide Planetarium > With new elements. see www.sacredresonance.com.au for more info.
